Seringai yang menyebut jati dirinya sebagai band High Octane Rock asal Jakarta, kembali hadir mencengkeram mangsanya. Kali ini mengandalkan ketajaman album terbaru merka bertajuk "Taring". Setelah beberapa minggu sebelumnya single "Tragedi" diperdengarkan dengan versi unduh gratisnya, bulan Juli 2012 ini album penuh tersebut pun hadir di tengah pendengar skena musik rock beroktan tinggi.

Sangat mengejutkan ketika single "Tragedi" telah diunduh 23 ribu kali hanya dalam waktu dua jam! Promosi yang apik melalui jejaring informasi Twitter dan fanbase Facebook berhasil membuktikan bahwa cara tersebut sangatlah ampuh untuk menjaring massa. Album Taring sendiri dikeluarkan dalam dua versi yaitu versi Deluxe dan versi reguler. Versi Deluxe berisi paket CD, poster, dan stiker artwork album "Taring" yang hanya diproduksi terbatas, 999 buah.

#1 Canis Dirus
Setelah saya googling, Canis Dirus adalah nama Latin dari jenis binatang"serigala yang mengerikan". Kita seolah ditegaskan bahwa Seringai sejak awal memang sangat identik dengan Serigala. Di album sebelumnya, Seringai populer dengan single hitsnya "Serigala Militia". Begitu juga dengan album ini, Taring bisa dikaitkan dengan sesosok serigala yang memiliki taring yang ganas.

Canis Dirus adalah intro album ini, suara gitar string dipadu dengan bass dengan tempo pelan menjadi sajian awal"Taring". Mendengar lagu singkat ini bagaikan mendengar lagu kebangsaan para serigala bangkit dari tidurnya, yang diputar di tengah-tengah hutan. Durasinya tidak lebih dari dua menit.

#2 Dilarang di Bandung
Diawali dengan beat snare dan bass drum yang menghentak, berhasil membawa lagu ini ke arah yang lebih ceria setelah mendengar intro Canis Dirus. Bagian reff yang berbunyi sesuai judul lagunya "Dilarang di Bandung" seakan memberikan penekanan bahwa begitu tidak masuk akalnya aturan yang dibuat, yaitu dengan melarang konser-konser rock di Bandung.

#3 Taring
Ini adalah salah satu lagu yang paling saya suka di album ini. Permainan kata yang begitu tajam membuat saya selalu terngiang-ngiang bagian reff lagu Taring. Bisa dikata lagu ini adalah lagu penyemangat di album ini. Perhatikan line di bagian reff "mengasah tajam / hajar masa depan / meraih mimpi / kehidupan terang" yang menyuguhkan denotasi dari makna Taring itu sendiri. Taring adalah sesuatu yang tajam, dan Seringai selalu mengajarkan kepada pendengarnya untuk 'bertaring'. Di awal lagu Anda akan mendengar "TARING TARING TARING KU!!!". Tragedi mengajarkan kepada kita bahwa masih ada saja pemikiran yang keliru. Dalam hal sebab akibat yang tidak saling berhubungan. #6 Serenada Membekukan Api
Saya kira lagu ini akan bercerita tentang pemadam kebakaran, tapi ternyata salah! Esensi lagu ini adalah kritik Seringai terhadap rencana pemerintah untuk memblokir konten-konten pornografi yang dinilainya tidak edukatif. Edy Khemod menambahkan semakin kita tabukan, semakin kita akan penasaran, semakin mudah kita terjerumus. Pekerjaan yang sia-sia seperti yang diumpamakan pada bagian reff "menabukan malam, membekukan api, sia-sia".

#7 Discotheque
Discotheque pada dasarnya adalah lagu milik Duo Kribo (Ahmad Albar & Ucok AKA). Seringai mengcover lagu ini dengan sentuhan classic rock. Bagi Edy Khemod, lagu ini adalah lagu underrated yang mempunyai lirik berani di jamannya.

#8 Program Party Seringai
Track ini diawali dengan suara seorang anouncer wanita yang mengakhiri pengumumannya dengan teriakan thrash "Seringaiiiii". Judul lagu ini dipilih Arian13 karena terinspirasi dari judul lagu Refused (punk rock Swedia) "The Refused Party Program". Lagu ini adalah penggambaran Seringai sebagai band yang gemar berpesta dan bersenang-senang. Tidak harus serius melulu. Bagaimana, setuju?

#9 Lagu Lama
Cara bernyanyi Arian13 benar-benar beringas secepat kilat, kecuali di bagian reff yang masih bisa didengar artikulasinya. Suara distrosi gitar dan bass yang saling mengawini menjadi mudah ditebak bahwa inilah benang merah musik Seringai.

"Persetan dengan mereka!" begitulah kalimat terakhir yang dilontarkan di akhir lagu ini. Lagu ini berisi kesuntukan Seringai yang bingung memilih topik, karena isu-isu negeri ini yang mereka kritisi masih sama hingga sekarang. Tidak ada perubahan dan cenderung stagnan. Pesan yang disampaikan ada di bagian "berdiri sendiri / menjadi mandiri / tetap menyikapi / kritis dan awasi".

#10 Lissoi
You got it, Seringai! Begitu reaksi saya ketika mendengar lagu Batak ini dinyanyikan mereka. Lagu yang hanya diiringi gitar akustik ini sangat mengakrabkan. Semua personel Seringai bersorak sorai lepas menyanyikan bersama "Lissoi". Ini adalah lagu tongkrongan yang unik. Mengapa lagu ini dipilih? Alasan Arian13 (vox), Edy (drummer), dan Sammy (bassist), sama semua, mereka iri dengan Ricky (lead guitar) yang mempunyai lagu ini. Bukan karena Ricky yang berasal dari Batak. Hahaha!

#11 Infiltrasi
Jujur sebelum membuka kamus, saya agak ragu dengan maksud kata "Infiltrasi". Penyusupan adalah makna lain dari infiltrasi. Lagu yang memang didedikasikan kepada mereka yang berani melakukan perubahan untuk memajukan skenanya dari dalam. Begitulah kata Ricky atas sambutan untuk lagu ini. Aroma hardcore punk terasai di lagu ini.

#12 Gaza
Gaza adalah lagu instrumental (tanpa vokal) yang memiliki durasi terlama di album ini, enam menit lebih enam detik. Lagu paling ambisius yang menggunakan double drums, tiga gitar elektrik, dua gitar akustik, moog, synth, vokal. Drum yang digunakan di lagu ini adalah drum milik alm. Ary Roxx. Namun, tetap saja identitas Seringai tetap tercirikan dengan baik. Salah satu ciri tersebut adalah diksi yang digunakan Seringai dalam penulisan lirik. Semenjak album pertama hingga sekarang masih konsisten memasukkan kata-kata ajaib ke dalam lirik lagu, tak jarang sulit diketahui maknanya. Justru ini yang unik. Banyak kosakata Bahasa Indonesia yang seharusnya bisa kita manfaatkan untuk membangun permainan lirik yang asyik. Musik-musik Motorhead, Black Sabbath, dan Slayer masih jadi bahan pemujaan Seringai. Juga nuansa baru yang terinspirasi dari karya-karya Turbonegro hingga Deep Purple.
