Rio : Tidak ada alasan spesifik, kami hanya ingin fokus dalam musik dan tidak pernah terlintas dalam pikiran kami untuk mengganti nama band. Memang pada 2 tahun pertama Sabaoth terbentuk kami memainkan Grindcore, seiring waktu berjalan arah musik kami bergeser ke Death Metal sampai akhirnya kami merilis full album “Unholy Divinity”.

Apa pergantian personil turut menyebabkan kalian memutuskan untuk tidak lagi memainkan grindcore?

Rio : Pergantian personil bukan penyebab kami tidak lagi memainkan Grindcore, tapi murni karena ketertarikan dan progress dalam bermusik kami yang mengarah ke Death Metal.

Bagaimana metode kalian dalam pembuatan materi?

Rio : Soal pembuatan materi saya rasa sama dengan band-band pada umumnya, dimana setelah riff gitar selesai dikerjakan, kemudian Marcel mengerjakan part drumnya. Dan pada tahap ini juga pattern vokal mulai ikut digarap sedangkan bass tinggal mengikuti riffing gitar saja. Untuk penguasaan materi pada saat latihan tiap lagu kami bagi dalam beberapa bagian, setelah satu bagian dikuasai baru pindah ke bagian lagu selanjutnya.

Apakah mood termasuk hal yang berpengaruh dalam pembuatan materi?

Boy : Untuk saya pribadi mood sangat penting dalam penulisan lirik. Emosi yang ingin saya tuangkan dalam lirik lebih mengena apabila saya sedang dalam mood yang baik.

Marcel : Sangat berpengaruh, mood yang baik akan membuat proses penciptaan berjalan lancar.

Rio : Berpengaruh, kalau lagi on-fire materi bisa lebih cepat selesai.

Ada pengalaman yang berkesan selama pembuatan materi atau proses rekaman debut album kalian?

Marcel : Mungkin yang paling berkesan dalam hal pembuatan materi adalah materi drum untuk “Unholy Divinity”, materi [drum] terlebih dulu disusun sekaligus ditulis/dinotasikan di atas kertas lalu kita latih dalam studio bersama dengan gitar, bass dan vokal. Menurut saya,cara penulisan materi drum seperti ini lebih efektif karena lebih menghemat waktu dan karena waktu itu juga kami sedang di kejar deadline.

Rio : Kalau soal proses rekaman yang paling berkesan disaat kami merekam album “Demogrind” tahun 2007, kami rekaman diburu waktu dan rekaman sudah harus selesai sebelum Marcel berangkat ke Banyuwangi. Proses rekaman hanya dilakukan satu hari, kelaparan dan uang untuk makan tinggal recehan, akhirnya kami berempat (dengan basis yang lama) hanya makan roti kering dengan air mineral sebotol dibagi empat :D

Semua lirik di album Unholy Divinity ditulis oleh Boy, apa sejak awal kalian memang mempercayakan pembuatan lirik kepada Boy?

Boy : Sebagai seorang vokalis, itu merupakan tugas saya. Kebetulan semenjak perilisan demogrind (2007) saya yang bertanggung jawab dalam penulisan lirik.

Rio : Untuk lirik Boy yang menulisnya, sedangkan untuk konsep atau tema lagu kami mendiskusikannya terlebih dahulu.

Bisa ceritakan darimana datangnya inspirasi lirik Bapthized By Hate?

Boy : Lirik Baphtized By Hate, demikian juga lirik yang lain dalam album kami, semuanya berdasarkan pengalaman dan emosi saya pribadi.

Secara keseluruhan apa yang pesan ingin kalian sampaikan melalui album Unholy Divinity?

Boy : Secara band, kami ingin menyapa semua teman-teman di luar menado melalui album kami. Secara lirikal, tidak ada hal yang khusus atau penyampaian apa-apa. Hanya menulis lirik sesuai hal yang terlintas dalam pikiran.

Rio : Kami anti dengan sikap mentuhankan agama, fanatisme, kekerasan atas nama tuhan/agama dan segala kebusukan di dalamnya.

Menurut kalian apakah sebuah lagu harus memiliki emosi?

Marcel : Kami mengartikan kata “emosi” di sini sebagai “feel” dan “rasa”. Ya,sudah seharusnya setiap lagu memiliki feel, dan feel datang dari si musisi yang memainkan musik itu sendiri. Karena dengan lagu yang memiliki emosi kami bisa enjoy untuk memainkannya di live maupun di dalam studio.

Rio : Tiap personil menginterpretasikan emosi lagu dengan cara masing-masing tentunya. Tapi yang jelas kami harus mengimani lagu kami sendiri sebelum berharap orang lain akan menikmatinya.

Mana yang lebih penting dalam membuat sebuah lagu, membuat lagu yang dapat mengekspos habis-habissan skill individu tiap personil atau membuat lagu yang terdengar mengerikan/marah?

Boy : Menurut saya yang penting adalah penjiwaan terhadap lagu. Skill atau emosi yang ingin disampaikan akan mengalir dengan sendirinya apabila kita memberi nyawa terhadap lagu kita.
