Sudah satu dekade ini Koran Tempo hadir di hadapan pembaca. Sejak terbit pertama kali pada 2 April 2001, banyak hal telah diungkap untuk memenuhi tuntutan pembaca akan berita yang lebih cerdas dan berkualitas. Dengan pagina enam kolom, kami berusaha menghadirkan berita yang ringkas tanpa kehilangan kedalamannya. Kami juga tetap menyajikan berita-berita investigatif, terutama yang berkaitan dengan korupsi dan penyalahgunaan kekuasaan. Tak heran pada 2002 Koran Tempo memperoleh penghargaan sebagai koran paling kredibel dari Dewan Pers.

Di tengah persaingan media sejenis yang makin ketat, kami tetap berfokus pada berita politik dan ekonomi. Banyak kasus menarik sepanjang 2010. Yang paling menghebohkan tentu saja kasus penyelamatan Bank Century. Kasus ini menyita perhatian banyak kalangan karena melibatkan dua tokoh penting: Wakil Presiden Boediono dan Menteri Keuangan Sri Mulyani Indrawati. Kami mencoba menuliskannya dengan lebih berimbang.

Selain itu, Koran Tempo terus memperbaiki desain agar senantiasa menarik perhatian pembaca. Kualitas penulisan juga terus ditingkatkan. Upaya ini membuahkan penghargaan dari Pusat Bahasa Departemen Pendidikan Nasional. Koran Tempo berhasil meraih penghargaan sebagai koran berbahasa Indonesia terbaik selama empat tahun berturut-turut, mulai 2007 hingga 2010.

Pada 2011, kami akan menampilkan lebih banyak desain yang segar. Infografis akan tampil rutin pada rubrik seperti Ilmu dan Teknologi, Gaya Hidup, Kesehatan, Olahraga, dan Internasional. Tujuannya tidak lain adalah memaksimalkan ruang yang terbatas dengan menyajikan sebanyak mungkin informasi melalui tampilan infografis yang memikat, bukan dalam bentuk teks yang padat.

Sebagai bagian dari upaya memberikan nilai tambah kepada pembaca, tahun ini kami akan menerbitkan sejumlah edisi khusus. Selain menyajikan edisi khusus yang rutin seperti Edisi Kemerdekaan pada Agustus, kami akan meluncurkan Edisi Khusus Sepak Bola dan Edisi Khusus Lima Tahun Lumpur Lapindo.
