Dari hasil pemetaan geologi dan penggalian sumur uju di TP-1 , diperoleh bahwa jenis tanah di sini adalah lempung lanauan, berwarna coklat kemerahan, konsistensi firm sampai very stiff, plastisitas tinggi, kelulusan air rendah. Ketebalan lapisan lempung ini berkisar antara 0,5 meter sampai 9 meter. Ketebalan rata-rata diperkirakan 5 meter.
Luas penyebaran lempung lanauan tersebut pada permukaan adalah sekitar 4 Ha. Dari data di atas dapat di hitung perkiraan jumlah cadangan material tanah yang dapat diambil dari lokasi ini adalah 200.000 m3 . Dari hasil uji di laboratorium mekanika tanah1 diperoleh karakteristik tanah di lokasi ini memenuhi kelayakan teknis untuk digunakan sebagai material inti Bendungan Sadawarna.
