Lagu-lagu di album ini banyak diinspirasi oleh kisah nyata yang dialami oleh Deugalih & Folks untuk mereka ceritakan ke pendengarnya, seperti salah satu lagu yang berjudul “Bunga Lumpur”, lagu yang menjadi single pertama dalam album ini diciptakan untuk anak-anak petani Indramayu, bercerita tentang anak-anak petani di Indramayu dengan segala budaya dan tradisi midangan (berhenti bermain ketika sore, melanjutkan bermain dan bercengkrama ketika isya). Dan satu lagi yang menarik di album Anak Sungai ialah mereka membuat sajak karya Chairil Anwar yang berjudul “Buat Gadis Rasid” menjadi sebuah lagu.
