Catatan ini saya tulis untuk mengenang 6 tahun wafat Ivan Scumbag (19 April 1978 – 27 Juli 2006). sahabat saya, vokalis Burgerkill. Saya ingin mulai dari mencuplik fragmen dua hari terakhir hidup Ivan dari buku Myself : Scumbag Beyond Life and Death. Nama rumah sakit dan ruangan di mana ia dirawat sengaja saya hilangkan dalam artikel ini agar pebahasan tidak menjadi bias. Simaklah,

“…Sehari sebelumnya, 26 Juli 2006.

Pukul setengah satu dini hari. Sakit di kepala Ivan semakin menghebat dan sepertinya sudah tak tertanggungkan lagi. Tubunya yang ringkih sudah tidak kuat lagi menahan derita begitu hebat di kepalanya. Syaraf-syarafnya sama sekali sudah lelah. Ivan kejang-kejang. Kejang-kejang yang paling parah selama Ivan sakit. Namun, untuk duduk pun ia sudah tidak kuat, padahal sepertinya Ivan saat itu sudah tidak kuat menahan buang air kecil. Akhirnya, untuk ke dua kalinya Mery mencoba mengangkat, mendudukkan Ivan. Namun Mery semakin panik melihat kejang-kejang Ivan jadi semakin parah. Ia kejang hebat. Lehernya sangat tegang dan tertarik ke belakang kepalanya. Kaki dan tangannya juga sangat kejang. Tangannya malah terkepal sangat erat. Sementara itu, matanya nyalang terbuka, melotot menatap kosong ke arah sana. Matanya begitu gelap dan pekat.
