Salah satu band tertua dalam sejarah musik death metal Indonesia memberikan bukti bahwa mereka tak punya rencana untuk menghentikan kariernya. Perennial adalah album penuh keempat dari Trauma dan memamerkan musikalitas baru Trauma yang kini lebih melodius. Sebenarnya formula melodius ini sudah bermula semenjak album Paradigma; Demi Hidup Tak Perlu Harus Mati yang mereka rilis tahun 2003, namun hadir dalam bentuk sempurnanya di tahun 2012 ketika band ini genap berumur 20 tahun. Trauma sebelumnya memiliki sound death metal klasik yang banyak terpengaruh band macam Benediction. Namun kini lagu-lagu seperti nomor pembuka “Dimana Kita Datang, Disitu Kita (Pasti!) Menang” ataupun “Cermin Buruk Beribu Dosa” memiliki nilai melodi yang kental seperti yang biasa terpancar dari band death metal Swedia seperti In Flames maupun At The Gates. Growl rendah Nino Aspiranta terdengar dalam dan bergetar penuh kengerian. Riff master Sutan Heila Tanissan terdengar kreatif untuk muncul dengan berbagai macam bentuk dan tata atur riff gitar metal yang bergizi, serta bermelodi emosional. Nomor “Stench of Corpse” merupakan lagu lama dari album pertama mereka yang dibawakan dan digubah sesuai dengan zaman. Satu lagi adalah sebuah cover version “Kill Lou Guzzo” milik band punk rock The Dehumanizer yang dibuat brutal dengan hadirnya tempo hyperblast. Satu yang mungkin bisa diperbaiki di masa depan adalah artwork/desain serta tata letak sampul CD yang kurang menarik dan agak timpang bila dibandingkan materi musik yang berbahaya di album ini.
