Tak disengaja ketika awal tahun lalu vokalis grup musik metal, Man Jasad melewati kawasan Nagreg, tercetus di benaknya ingin membuat negara imajiner. Kemudian muncullah nama Republik Gaban.

Pemakaian istilah Gaban sendiri bukan tanpa arti, gaban adalah singkatan dari Garut dan Bandung.

"Karena omong kosong kalau ngomongin Indonesia, cakupannya sangat luas. Kebetulan saya berkegiatan di Garut Bandung, itu yang harus saya dirikan terlebih dahulu," terang Man kepada detikbandung.

Program Man untuk negara imajinernya di antaranya membuka kelas-kelas kebudayaan yang terbuka untuk umum serta tidak dipungut biaya. "Salah satu tindakan nyatanya adalah kelas karinding," katanya.

Man menuturkan, untuk sekarang ini tidak ada program yang terlalu serius yang sedang ia jalankan. "Kita hanya ngomongin negara indonesia dengan keceriaan tapi tetap isinya serius. Ada beberapa pidato saya yang sudah di upload di youtube," jelas Man.

Siapapun yang mempunyai tujuan dan mimpi yang sama dengan Republik Gaban, bisa menjadi warganya. Tinggal datang saja ke basecampnya yang berada di Common Room di Jalan Kyai Gede Utama, Bandung.

"Warganya siapa saja yang merasa mencintainya, memiliki dan ingin membangun Gaban. Warganya campur, tidak hanya anak metal melulu, yang penting masih pada hidup," seloroh Man sambil tertawa.
