DL: Hai, Bro. How’s ASPHYXIATE? Cerita dong tentang kegiatan kalian sekarang.


Josh: Great! Kabar ASPHYXIATE baik-baik saja. Tetap aktif manggung, latihan dan bikin lagu baru. Terus berkarya. Kalau di luar band, pada berkutat sama pekerjaan masing-masing. Deady konsen ama kerjaan dan dia juga barusan berumah tangga. Kalau gue, sibuk mikirin mau sibuk apaan. Hahaha…


DL: Haha… Oke deh. Tentang album Anatomy Of Perfect Bestiality nih. Certain dong kok bisa dipasarin sama label dari Amrik dan Italia?


Josh: OK. Cerita dikit ya. Album ini adalah album kedua kami. Proses dari mulai pembuatan lagu sampai proses recording memakan waktu lama, kira-kira 5 tahun. Lama kan? Ini disebabkan kami pernah beberapa kali mengalami pergantian line up, keluar masuk personil yang membuat proses pembuatan lagu berjalan sangat-sangat lambat. Thank’s God akhirnya selesai juga.


Kayak band-band lainnya, kami membuat promo CD yang kami bagikan hand to hand atau saat kami manggung. Ada juga beberapa sample promo yang kami kirim ke beberapa label di luar negeri. Akhirnya ada dua label, Despise The Sun Records dari Italia dan Severed Records dari Amrik tertarik memproduksi album ini secara split label. Jadi mereka nge-handle promosi dan marketing untuk wilayah mereka masing-masing. Ini jadi sebuah kehormatan yang luar biasa bagi band kecil seperti ASPHYXIATE untuk nunjukin ke dunia luar bahwa deathmetal scene di Indonesia itu besar.


DL: Ngadepin kendala apa saat membuat album ini?


Josh: Banyak! Heheheh. Kendala pertama pasti uang. Hahaha.. Kendala kedua adalah minimanya peralatan yang kami pakai. Jadi kami hanya memakai peralatan yang sering kami gunakan untuk manggung, tanpa peralatan tambahan standard studio. Bagaimanapun juga kami harus memaksimalisasi keadaan. Gimana aja deh caranya. Yah, begitulah hasil akhirnya.


DL: Adakah undangan dari promotor asing nggak buat ASPHYXIATE manggung di luar Indonesia?


Josh: Ada tuh beberapa invitation untuk manggung di luar Indonesia, tapi kami selalu gagal. Ya tentu karena keterbatasan dana dan kelengkapan berkas kami yang kurang.


DL: Sayang banget, ya. Moga-moga kelak bakalan bisa manggung di luar Indonesia, Bro. Oya, lagi persiapan bikin album ketiga?


Josh: Proses bikin lagu jalan terus pastinya.


DL: Gimana respon fans ASPHYXIATE so far?


Josh: Wah, terlalu berat tuh kalau pakai kata “fans”. Kami biasa menyebutnya “teman-teman yang tahu lagu kami”. Well, responnya sejauh ini bagus, cuma banyak yang complain gara-gara kesulitan untuk dapetin original CD album Anatomy Of Perfect Bestiality. Itu karena perjanjian kami sama record label bukan dengan royalti CD.
